The lockdown due to corona virus pandemic has taken a toll on our lives and I see a lot of people worrying, complaining and being tensed about the post corona phase. Some are worried about their social life while some regarding their salary hike. But a lot of us are in a better position compared to many others who are even struggling for two square meal. Mental health care has become the need of the hour with the increase in the number of cases of mental health woes. But remember one thing that you are not the only one who might be feeling the sudden change in lifestyle due to the lockdown.

Ever heard of the term ‘live for the moment’ ?

This moment is with you and you will only be able to handle your future worries and uncertainties if you keep yourself in a sound state right now. You can always work on yourself to keep your spirits up during the lockdown period. Take care of your physical health as well as your mental health during the coronavirus pandemic. You may be having a mental breakdown because of boredom and loneliness but there are many like you. And there is always a solution to all the problems.

“The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.”

~ Buddha.

How has Coronavirus lockdown affected you?

Many may feel overwhelmed by anxiety and uncertainty, and no one likes to feel anxious or stressed. Have you started feeling uneasy or not okay? as if it seems that “Your chest feels a void and heavy at the same time. You cry out of the blue. You don’t know what’s going on and you truly feel a little insane.” or “You have started spending more and more time on thinking about your past mistakes and remembering all the stupid things you have done?”

You are not alone with this feeling. Please take a deep breath and ring up the first person who comes to your mind. Let them know everything you want to share, your fears, insecurities and worries. Please choose someone who is very close to you and understands you well. The next thing which you have to do is talk to yourself. A humble request to all of you, be kind. Be kind to YOURSELF and to others. I am sure you must be bored, frustrated or stressed due to the corona virus. If not then I am sure you know someone who is. If anyone is reaching out to you then give them a patient hearing and if you are the one suffering please give yourself the required time to heal.

Empathy not insensitivity is required at this point of time. Look after your mental health when you are self isolating don’t let “ the increase of stress and anxiety around the matter”.

“AAAGGRHHH! I am sleep deprived” 🙁 – This is a very common complain we all come across in our normal days. So, now when we finally have time for ourselves and when we are not overworked what makes us stop from taking good care of ourselves.

Practise self-care: Good sleep – sleep at least 8 hours, wake up early and go to bed early. Eat healthy and keep yourself hydrated : drink plenty of fluids – if you like warm tea, coffee or green tea. Then it is a good option since the warmth brings us comfort and anything warm, by nature, makes us slow down and become calmer.

You may also go for daily a skin care routine: healing your cracked heals, chapped lips, removing blemishes, lightening your pimple marks and dark circle, removing dark spots. Even hair care is not a bad thing to try this lockdown. Do anything that keeps you busy to work on yourself and motivates you everyday to get out of the bed in order to do that thing for sure. Let people go gaga over your changed ‘avtaar’ post lockdown. Everything is worthy that increases your self worth.

Reconnect with your friends and family. We all experience that staying in the same place doing no much for hours and hours can intensify our emotions. When this happens try to break the cycle with new and fresh activities. Talking to someone often will offer new perspectives and bring reassurance (a little tip: set up an online group for your family and for your friends to ease the process of checking on your loved ones).

“I want to exercise but I have got no time to do it” This is an excuse which almost all of us make. But all our travelling time, the time which we used to take to get ready for work and our tired post work sofa naps are no more in the picture. What stops us from painting a better picture of ourselves?

Exercise, exercise and exercise! At home, cardio workouts or yoga videos from YouTube might be excellent options. If you have a lawn, garden or a huge terrace then for a running, cycling or walking once daily (keeping the 2 m distancing from other people) and get some sunshine and produce some vitamin D.

“I don’t get time to work on my creative skills” How many of you have this same common regret? This is the right time for you to work on it.

Indulge yourself in any creative writing which you have always wanted to do but could never do that due to the lack of time. A journal, to write down your thoughts, feelings and unload emotions. Painting, reading, sketching and writing anything and everything works. If you are blessed to have a family around you during the lockdown, you all can together cook and bake and honestly that will be more fun than you have ever expected. This time which offers you so much leisure is never going to return remember that. So make the most out of it.

“Take a deep breath, listen to your favorite song and realize everything is gonna be okay, nothing is permanent.”

Camila Cabello

Listen to music, dance on all the beats which ignites you. Many of us were forced to leave our ballet, jazz or contemporary dance because of our work pressure. So, what’s the excuse now? Dance, sing, jump and heal. You have to heal yourself because you are your own master.

Watch a good film or watch all the films present in your playlist. NO LACK OF TIME!

Without letting the lockdown impact your mental and physical heath. Try to be patient, calm and happy throughout this period. Do set up a routine! Eat good and light , there are few more points which I have discussed above please follow it and even you can suggest your own measures in the comment section below.

“Take a deep breath every morning; say thank you for your health. The alternative is unbelievably tough.”
