Saroj Khan, the three times National Film Awardee veteran choreographer died of a cardiac arrest in Mumbai hospital on Friday. She had choreographed some of the most iconic songs in Bollywood. Imagining Sridevi’s Hawa Hawai, Kaate Nahi Kat Te and Madhuri Dixit’s Dola Re, Maar Daala, Dhak Dhank Karne Laga and Ek Do Teen songs without Saroj Khan’s choreography is next to impossible. Saroj Khan was an expert of perfect dance moves and had a great impact of her choreography skills in Bollywood. Her choreographed songs’ signature steps still dominate us and will continue doing so for ages. She had won the American Choreography Award twice for her work in “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” and “Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India”.

Khan had been named as the brand ambassador for Cine Dance Association (CDA). She herself had begun her career as a group dancer and wanted CDA to become one of the biggest associations of the film industry. Right from the age of 10 till her last work she had religiously done her work. She had also announced that the association will give free education to dancers’ girl children. Bollywood has been deeply grieved by the sudden demise of the ‘dancing diva’ .

Priyanka Chopra has been a part of various charities and campaigns. She was appointed as Global Goodwill Ambassador in 2016. Her visit to Syria, to meet and interact with refugee children is laudable enough. She has even articulated the words in a PETA’s dog video.
