We have all known the importance of donations in some form or the other. Donations can be in any form be it monetary or non monetary. When it comes to the value addition through donation we may never forget that “We rise by lifting others”. Donations given to others not only helps others who are the ‘takers’ but also it enhances the chastity of our soul. We are all created by the universe in order to help each other out. The wealth of the giver shall never dwindle because when we reach out to others we rise in some way or the other, by the usage of the term ‘wealth’ I do not wish to restrict it only to monetary wealth instead by this I mean everything that we possess.

“Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.”

―H. Jackson Brown Jr.

Till now if you aren’t convinced by the idea of giving then let me just explain you with an example- Look at the nature, we have trees, tree gives us oxygen, shade, fruits, shade and its other parts which are used for various other purposes. Do you think giving reduces a tree’s worth? Rather the more the qualities the better its value.

People are seen donating food, money, clothes and medicines but somehow they refrain from donations when it comes to personal donations. We often come across people who indulge themselves in donations involving monetary wealth but how often we come across people who donate their organs? I guess very few! Sometimes they say they want a less painful afterlife while some say that organ donation is against their religion. But does it hold any water? Several religions across the globe teach us the lesson of humanity and harmony, how come helping someone through your donation after your departure makes you against the religion? A part of you remains in this world when you choose to donate your organ, isn’t it mesmerizing?

Now coming to the stigma related to skin donations, here’s some skin donation information and a brief on skin donation procedure- people fear that their body will be torn apart and their skin ripped off, so they will never be able to find solace in their afterlives. Dear readers nothing like this actually happen, the process of skin donation is a hassle free affair. Now coming to the best part of skin donations. Physical ailments like diabetes or hypertension cannot stop an individual from donating his/her skin, only certain types of ailments like skin cancer, AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, STD, Jaundice, Tuberculosis, Septicemia and active skin disease stops you from donating your skin. Another positive point is this, there is no need of blood or tissue matching between donor and recipient, which is not the case of in other organ transplant. Skin can be stored in skin banks for five years this proves to be an advantage for several burn cases.

Now, you introspect all your fears have been addressed. Do you still think that skin donation can be a problem? We shall think it in this way, we are not only helping an individual with burns instead we are helping heal their kin too. No body likes to see their loved ones in pain, if a burn case patient is healed because of you in fact I should say after your demise then you will be helping a bunch of people. No religion is better than the religion of philanthropy.

“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.”

―Pablo Picasso

Let us once think about the little children who accidentally end up burning themselves, the women who end up burning themselves accidentally in the kitchen or the factory workers who get burns through an accident. I am sure your heart goes out to them and we shall never forget the dowry burns caused by the in-laws, me and you together make the society I think of the number of patients we can save by giving something which will be of no use to us or own kin after our departure. Let us be a little more compassionate towards the society, let us help who can be helped by us. Let us love each other a little more and why can’t we be the first among our acquaintances to take part in this noble cause.
